Egypt: e-Visa
Egypt's tourist e-Visa is issued through the government's visa2egypt portal, so eligible travellers can skip a consulate visit.
Who needs it
Passport holders from countries the portal lists as eligible. Everyone else applies at an Egyptian embassy or consulate.
Key facts
- A single-entry e-visa is valid for 90 days from issue and allows a stay of up to 30 days.
- Apply at least seven days before departure.
- The e-visa is tied to the passport you applied with, so carry the same passport.
- The portal has had outages, and authorities have emailed approval certificates when downloads failed.
Watch out for
US State Department guidance has noted that other websites reportedly charge double the official price. The fee changed in April 2026, so old figures on other sites may be wrong.
Before you pay
Check that the address matches the link above, confirm the amount on the portal, and never pay a site that adds a large service fee. Our guide to spotting fake visa websites explains the warning signs, and the FAQ covers common questions.
This page is a summary for general information and can go out of date, and exemptions depend on your own nationality, so always confirm on the official portal. See our disclaimer.
